About

I am a composer, audio engineer, and arts administrator currently based in Rochester, New York. I am fascinated by music technology in all of its forms, ranging from acoustic instruments, to microphones, to computer-generated sound. As a composer, I am currently interested in narrative and meta-narrative in music.

composer biography:

Logan Barrett is a composer, audio engineer, and arts administrator based in Rochester, New York. His work deals with the interplay between abstraction and re-appropriation of musical materials to raise questions about the way we listen. This often involves placing simple sets of musical material into dense, rigorous formal structures as a way of recontextualizing the sounds that make them up. His music has been performed internationally by musicians including Carlos Cordeiro, the New Jersey Percussion Quartet, and the Eastman Graduate Composers’ Sinfonietta. Recent projects include an audience-participatory piece featuring custom built phone apps and a piece for two saxophones and interactive electronics premiered at the North American Saxophone Alliance. Logan is currently pursuing a PhD in composition at the Eastman School of Music, where he teaches orchestration.
